Membership 2019

Posted on March 17th, 2019

Membership subscription for 2019 is now due.

Your membership of the North Queensferry Heritage Trust is gratefully appreciated because it allows us to continue with our efforts in highlighting the rich heritage of North Queensferry. This is your annual notice for renewal of your membership.

The Trust must firstly apologise to all members for the delay in sending out this renewal form. As many of you will know, our administrator for the past few years accepted an excellent opportunity in Edinburgh and was compelled to resign her duties to the Trust. We remain grateful for her contributions through the past years.

However, this has also caused delay in a few items including an exciting events programme we are preparing. Our Honorary Secretary, Bruce Finlayson has now agreed to take on some of the previous administrator’s responsibilities and you can expect to hear from him more often in the future.

The Trust has three main responsibilities; the management of the Forth Bridge Heritage Centre at the Railway Station building; the Light Tower (both of which can be classified as visitor attractions) and the annual Village Show.

The Station

– the Trust’s policy is to keep the Gallery open as much as possible acting as a waiting room as well as having an exhibition constantly on display. A fully accessible Public Toilet facility is also kept open. Note that the Trust has also installed a defibrillator unit that is registered with the Police and Scottish Ambulance Service and is available 24/7 on the Edinburgh bound platform.

The Light Tower

on the Town Pier continues to be open as often as possible, subject to weather and now attracts over 10,000 visitors per year. It has also just undergone a comprehensive refurbishment and is now ready for visitors and “light the lamp” reservations.

Website

– the much expanded website www.nqht.org includes the previous light tower website. The new website includes information on the War Memorial and the stories associated with the listed names; our ‘Destination Forth-WW1’ exhibition – it is fully documented on the website under the label 1918. The website incorporates an easy to read layout with a great deal of other heritage information, including natural heritage from our very own John Done. The website will continue to grow, so do keep visiting and checking Facebook for more news.

We are always looking for more help with exhibitions and the light tower. Whether you can contribute time or skills, you would be made very welcome. If interested, do get in touch by email NQHTinfo@gmail.com or via the website or Facebook.

Don’t forget, that as a member of the Trust you are offered an extra 10% discount over the retail volume discount of between 10 and 20%, from wholesale nursery Growforth (Plant Market), Hillend.

More information about the Trust and its work can be found on our website and Facebook pages. Both are regularly kept up-to-date.

Your support for the Trust and its activities provides a vital source of income that enables us to continue to highlight the rich heritage of the North Queensferry peninsula for today and generations to come.
