44 – The Royal Navy after WWI

A post-war naval arms race by the Allied powers was prevented by the Treaty of Washington signed February 6th 1922.

It limited the number and size of ships allowed by each navy, and led to many existing and planned ships being scrapped.

HMS Caroline – a floating museum in Belfast

The C-class light cruiser HMS Caroline which took part in the surrender was decommissioned in 2011.
She is one of three remaining British Warships from WWI.

The other two are HMS M33, a monitor which saw action in Gallipoli, now in dry dock at Portsmouth and HMS President an Anchusa-class sloop Q-ship, which is privately owned and anchored in the Thames.

The only remaining allied battleship from WWI is USS Texas, preserved as a floating museum near Houston, Texas.
