Golf Course – References

Some of the story has been covered in two books:

“Inverkeithing. North Queensferry. Limekilns. Charlestown. The Ferry Hills. Their antiquities and recreative resources. History of Dunfermline Golf Club and plan of the course.” Edited by A. S. Cunningham, published in 1899

and

Dunfermline Golf Club, 1887 – 1987 by Douglas M Ferguson

Both of these are available in Dunfermline Carnegie Library.

There is further information on two related web-sites

as well as the website of Dunfermline Golf Course

Dunfermline Golf Club kindly gave us access to their archives – in particular their minute book from 1917 to 1924, the course title deeds from 1920 to 1931, and a collection of club cards and the handbook from 1920.

Many hours were spend searching through newspaper records in the on-line British Newspaper Archive and the microfilm records of the Dunfermline Press in the Dunfermline Carnegie Library. (The BNA only covers the Dunfermline Press from 1859 to 1864, and the Dunfermline Saturday Press from 1859 to 1892.)
